“You may need to get a pacemaker”, my adult congenital cardiologist said, in her mild Indian accent poised with wisdom, as if she had just told me the temperature outside,

Me on my way to go workout… even though I still Me on my way to go workout… even though I still have 27 things on my to-do list for the week. 😆

Honestly, I HATE the feeling of having things on my list still at the end of the day. 😣

But you know what I hate more? When I’ve gone a week without working out and my whole body and mood just start to feeling blah. 😩

💪🏽 Prioritizing exercise has proven time and time again not only to keep me sane, but to actually help me re-tackle my to-do list the next day! ✅

Do you have a boundary for your “stop working time” each day? Whether it’s to workout, or just create that work-life balance?

It can be difficult, but also very freeing!

When I was in gymnastics… I couldn’t do a hand When I was in gymnastics… I couldn’t do a handstand hold (a handstand without walking) to save my life.

But we used to have handstand walking competitions all the time. Handstand, walk as much as you need, the last one who drops wins! Your girl was a champ!! 🤸🏽‍♀️

Truth is I love being upside down. At the time of this video I hadn’t done a handstand… or the splits for that matter lol in some time!

It reminded me how important it is to keep up with movement I love. Why? Welp, there are some real reasons

WHY IT’S SO IMPORTANT TO DO MOVEMENT THAT BRINGS YOU JOY 👇🏽

👉🏽 BOOST YOUR MOOD! 😃 Exercise already released endorphins and other feel-good hormones.

But if we’re doing exercise we hate, it could work against the stress-reducing benefits and actually add negative stress to the body 😳

👉🏽 YOU WILL BE MORE CONSISTENT! ✅ When we do movement we love, we crave it, we look forward to it. And therefore, we’re more likely to stick with it!!

👉🏽 YOU CAN DISCOVER MORE THINGS YOU LOVE ❤️
Approaching fitness with the question “what movement do I love to do?” allows you to experiment and stay open to variety. 🧘🏽‍♀️🚴🏽‍♀️🏋🏼‍♀️

Try to find movement you love that covers all 3 categories: strength training, cardio, and mobility.

So… what’s one if your favorite ways to move?? ⬇️💬
How do we even change our self-talk? 🤷🏽‍♀️
.
Simple answer? Practice! ✅

Here’s a 3-step process to get you started:

1️⃣ NOTICE IT - take a day or two and try to be super aware of negative food & body thoughts that pop up. Sometimes these thoughts are so subconscious we think them without recognizing them.

Maybe you’re getting dressed and you glance at the mirror and your mind goes “ugh I look bloated today”. Just notice it and jot it down in your notes on your phone.

2️⃣ SWITCH IT - after you have taken a few days to record your top 5-10 negative recurring food & body thoughts, create some time (at least 20min) to sit down and write an empowering 180 opposite of each thought.

Ex. negative thought = I’m so fat.

positive switch = My body has a beautiful, attractive, sexy shape.

(OR)

positive switch = My body may look and feel different along the way. I am worthy no matter what!

3️⃣ INTERRUPT IT - you have new ammo now! The next step is to continue being aware of those moments the thoughts pop up. Pause, acknowledge the thought, tell your inner critic “thank you for sharing but actually… INSERT SWITCH SENTENCE”

⚠️ It may or may not feel like much. But I promise you, the more you practice this, the lower the volume will be on those negative thoughts. 💭
